NITK’s Healthy Holiday Gift Guide

Nutritionist in the Kitch's Healthy Holiday Gift Guide

Eeep! Christmas is only 2 weeks away! I’m super excited, with a little side of stressed – I haven’t come close to finishing my gift buying, but I always tend to get it done, right on time... yep, that’s me, Christmas Eve Day running around the mall like a chicken with my head cut off. I think that’s just me in general. Always.

So, even though I procrastinate, I thought that maybe you…don’t! So, you’re probably in the midst of your shopping, or maybe you’re even done – I can’t imagine! If you are still trying to think of some gift ideas, here’s my Healthy Holiday Gift Guide to inspire you!

1. Bob’s Red Mill Almond Flour //

Almond flour is something that I’ve been testing out over the past year or so, and I’m now getting more used to baking with it! I love how this grain free flour works in breads, cakes, and baked donuts! It has a great amount of protein and a nice dose of healthy fat, so it’s a wonderful gift for those in your sphere of people you love who can’t have grains! … Also, because Almond Flour can be a tad pricey, buying it as a gift is a nice gesture for someone who might not think to splurge in the everyday for a specialty flour like this!

2. Non-Stick Donut Pan //

…speaking of donuts. Not the healthiest right?! Well.. if you bake them, you can actually make them pretty healthy! I promise – just look at my Chocolate & Coconut Baked Donut with Chocolate Glaze... yum! So, for that baker in your life – why not get them this pan so they can add donuts to their repertoire and hopefully…share the bounty!

3. Green & Blacks Organic Hot Chocolate Mix //

Who doesn’t love Hot Cocoa around the Holidays?! Well, this yummy mix by Green & Blacks is all organic using raw cocoa and it’s naturally sweetened with cane sugar! All you have to do is add milk – I’d go with unsweetened almond milk! Perfection!

4. Eden Organic Apple Butter //

I love this Apple Butter – it’s so darn delicious. And guess what – all it’s made of is... apples. Yep, that’s it. 100% apples, slow cooked into buttery deliciousness! I put apple butter on my sweet potatoes, use it as a dip for turkey sausage, and put it in sandwiches (…check that recipe out for a great leftover turkey idea!). I’ll admit, I sometimes just eat it right out of the jar too! This is definitely a healthy item to include as a stocking stuffer for any apple lover you know!

5. Vitamix //

Ok – so let’s say you have a bigger budget and don’t know what to get for that special someone. I’m telling you – a Vitamix for the win. Honestly, this is one kitchen appliance to have and to hold.. forever! It’s such a great tool for smoothies, soups, sauces, sweets, treats, batters, flours… the list goes on! There’s so many healthy things that can be created with a Vitamix, it’s definitely the gift of all gifts!

6. Prana Kilimanjaro Trail Mix //

I know everyone has a trail mix junkie in their life. My Dad is one of those guys who always has a tub of roasted nuts in his car/office/kitchen… he just loves them! So, for that specific person, why not give them this delicious, super healthy trail mix by Prana Bio which is full of 100% vegan, organic, and gluten free goodness!

7. Anthropologie Monogram Mug //

I go to Anthropologie once a month or so to see what new wonderful dishes they have as I use them for my food photography! The plates are always so pretty, and these mugs are cute as can be! Even though this isn’t a food item, you can encourage your special someone to use the mug, monogramed with their first initial, for a nice green tea, or even pair it with the Green & Blacks Organic Hot Chocolate Mix! That would make the perfect pair!

8. Alter Eco Black Truffles //

Alter Eco is a brand I’ve just recently discovered and well, I’m in LOVE! They have tons of delicious different chocolate bars that are made with neat and unusual ingredients along with organic cocoa – like the Dark Quinoa chocolate bar (umm.. yuuuhhhmm!), These Black Truffles are another chocolate delight in their line that’s perfect for Christmas. With so many truffles around this time of year that are full of refined sugars, these Alter Eco delights are definitely a healthier option!

There you have it! My Healthy Holiday Gift Guide for you! I hope you find something for that person you have no idea what to buy for.. or hey, you could just treat yourself too!

Have a wonderful Thursday and stay tuned for this amazing, simple, and, you guessed it… super delicious recipe coming your way next on the blog!
